Sunderland have accepted a bid from Crystal Palace for Patrick van Aanholt

Sources told ESPN FC earlier this week that Palace were in talks with Sunderland over a move for Van Aanholt, 26, and were ready to pay a fee in the region of £12 millon for the Dutchman.

Van Aanholt was withdrawn from the line-up Sunderland named at Tottenham in September just 15 minutes before kick-off after a phone call from a cardiologist to their club doctor.

Van Aanholt was arguably Sunderland's most improved player last season under Allardyce, but his defending has again come under scrutiny this season.

Sam Allardyce says Crystal Palace are "close" to signing Sunderland left-back Patrick van Aanholt, in a deal worth up to £14million.

Sunderland chief executive Martin Bain said: "If a player openly states he does not want to play for our club, then it is clear that we have a decision to make".

Cyndi Lauper on Madonna's Women's March Comments: They 'Didn't Serve a Purpose'
Madonna came under fire this week after giving a profanity-laced speech January 21 at the Women's March on Washington. Apart from criticizing Madonna , Lauper also went on to praise Scarlett Johansson's speech .

"I'm sure the medical will be okay and he will be looking forward to joining us - he was a major saviour in our run last season. A major part of that success story". His contribution, in terms of assists and goals, was massive.

Speaking after the game, Allardyce said he hope to have van Aanholt available for selection for their game with Bournemouth on Tuesday. "That has been the biggest blocker of transfers in this window; it's become very expensive to do business".

Ireland's Robbie Brady was strongly linked with a move from Norwich to Palace but the latest reports suggest that Burnley could be the destination for the versatile Dubliner should he return to the Premier League.

"Steve is not at the training ground anyway today".
