Senate issues subpoenas targeting Michael Flynn's businesses

House Intelligence Committee Vice Chairman Adam Schiff said Tuesday that former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn has declined to testify before or supply business documents to his panel and - as such - "we do have to explore a use of contempt".

The committee also sent a letter to Flynn's attorney Tuesday questioning the legal basis of Flynn's decision to invoke his Fifth Amendment right over a request for documents rather than testimony.

"Those subpoenas, one has been served one is in the process of being served", Warner said, adding the committee is keeping "all options on the table". According to Warner, the two businesses served were Flynn Intel LLC and Flynn Intel Inc.

The committee also sent a letter to Flynn's lawyer Tuesday addressing concerns that their original subpoena lacked specificity.

The House Intelligence Committee will subpoena former Trump adviser Michael Flynn after he refused to cooperate with the panel's investigation into Trump campaign ties with Russian Federation.

"We're taking options that we feel are appropriate right now", Burr told reporters after a closed committee meeting.

The House intelligence panel, meanwhile, is requesting documents from former Trump campaign communications adviser Michael Caputo.

"You see the mob taking the Fifth", Trump said.

Mark Warner (right) and Richard Burr speak to the media. Among the possibilities, the senators acknowledged, was to hold Flynn in contempt of Congress, a criminal charge, if he continued down the path of refusing compliance.

Count continues in tight BC election race
The Greens could push the pro-business Liberals out of power by forming a majority government with the NDP. "We're in discussions. In Richmond-Queensborough, the Liberals lead shrunk to 101 from 116 over the NDP.

Burr's statement came after the ranking Democrat on the committee, Sen.

Stein said the soiree was "a great opportunity to lay out some of my foreign policy proposals and get Russian reactions to them".

"He is the target on nearly a daily basis of outrageous allegations, often attributed to anonymous sources in Congress or elsewhere in the United States Government, which, however fanciful on their face and unsubstantiated by evidence, feed the escalating public frenzy against him".

Brennan noted anew that USA intelligence agencies had concluded "Russia's goals were to undermine public faith in the US democratic process, denigrate Secretary (Hillary) Clinton and harm her electability and potential presidency, and to help President Trump's election chances".

Warner, a Virginia Democrat, also told Bash that if reports that Trump asked top intelligence officials to publicly deny evidence of cooperation between his campaign and Russian Federation are true, Trump's requests would be "outrageous".

Solomon L. Wisenberg, a Washington defense lawyer who worked as a prosecutor during the Starr investigation of President Bill Clinton, said both of Flynn's corporate structures would likely have to turn over all business records sought by the committee. FBI investigators are also examining Flynn's Russian contacts as part of their sprawling probe of the Kremlin's campaign to interfere in the 2016 election.

The full Senate, or the 15-member panel formally known as the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, could seek a judge's order compelling Flynn to comply.

Schiff also said that the first round of responses from witnesses to testify before his committee have been coming in this week.
