Toronto CF Kevin Pillar apologizes for using anti-gay slur

TV replays appear to show Pillar using the slur. MLB's intention in suspending Pillar hopefully will be to reinforce what the centerfielder said in his statement, that he is aware he "helped extend the use of a word that has no place in baseball, in sports or anywhere in society today".

The 28-year-old outfielder has apologized to Motte, the Braves and their fans and, most importantly, the LGBTQ community. "This is not who I am and will use this as opportunity to better myself".

The team has issued a statement saying, "In no way is this kind of behaviour accepted or tolerated". Atkins announced the suspension, which he said was deemed appropriate by Major League Baseball.

"It makes the games hard to watch", he said, "about the Bautista celebrations after his tours. Inexcusable, Pillar", @ReesorBoy wrote.

Freeman was struck on the left wrist by a pitch in the fifth inning and left the game.

Pillar apologized for the slur, and as far as these kinds of apologies go, it's a good one that actually seems honest - no mentions of "Sorry if I offended you" or anything like that, a tactic that shifts the blame away from the responsible party.

Freeman said he feared he suffered a fracture when first examined by trainer Jim Lovell on the field and Lovell "told me to squeeze his hand and obviously I couldn't do it". It was uncalled for.

The apology comes after a torrent of complaints that followed his initial post-game comments, in which he described the incident as "part of the game" and something that happened in the "heat of the moment".

Trump budget slashes safety-net programs
The budget includes $25 billion for a plan to give parents six weeks of paid leave after the birth or adoption of a child. The new budget also covers "mandatory" spending, including such big-ticket items as Medicare and Social Security.

"I'm surprised he's ready to fight again after what happened past year", said Braves reliever Eric O'Flaherty, who gave up the home run in the top of the eighth inning. I will learn from this incident and move on. "Don't let it define me".

He has six homers, 12 RBIs, an.854 OPS (on-base plus slugging) and has made several highlight-reel catches in the outfield.

A baseball player who made a homophobic slur live on TV has apologised.

The Blue Jays also had a tough night on the basepaths.

The tension didn't end with Pillar's outburst. Atlanta catcher Kurt Suzuki also had some words when Bautista arrived at home plate and the two dugouts to emptied once again. After Bautista was hit by the pitch with one out, Kendrys Morales singled, Darrell Ceciliani doubled, Chris Coghlan doubled, and the Braves suddenly trailed 3-0.

Braves reliever Eric O'Flaherty joked after the game that Bautista should be careful given his history of getting punched in the face (See: Rougned Odor). Atkins said the Blue Jays would likely make matching donations. "It's just turned into "look at me" stuff". He was hitting.341 and tied for the major league lead with 14 homers. I'm just exhausted of it. "It's exhausted. We've seen it from him though".

Blue Jays: SS Troy Tulowitzki (right hamstring) will not come off the DL on Thursday, as Toronto had hoped. The Braves went on to win 8-4.

The Blue Jays won Thursday's game 9-0 to avoid a sweep in the series.
