He is not a hero he is a God- Eriksson hails departing Roma icon Totti

Roma legend Francesco Totti announces that Sunday's Serie A encounter against Genoa will be his last match for his hometown club.

Totti confirmed in a statement published on his official Twitter account that the Genoa game would be the last in which he would "wear the Roma shirt".

"From Monday I'm ready to go again".

Totti added that his love for football "never fades" because it is a passion.

"It's so deep, I can't imagine not fuelling it any longer".

Now, another Serie A team has made a move to secure his services on a one-year basis for the 2017/18 season.

The club have been criticised for their handling of what has become an uncomfortable situation for them with coach Luciano Spalletti making little use of Totti this season.

It includes consultations and representation by American diplomats and operational activities by the U.S. military forces. The meeting was attended by ASEAN nations with claims in the region - the Philippines , Brunei , Malaysia and Vietnam .

Spalletti' frustration showed when he was asked why he had not brought on Totti in the 4-1 win at AC Milan for what would have been his last appearance at San Siro earlier this month.

"Francesco is Roma, I want to be as close to him as possible".

The former Italy global, who was capped 58 times, has won one Serie A title and two Italian cups with the Giallorossi, as well as lifting the World Cup with his country in 2006.

Francesco Totti has allegedly received a contract offer from an unnamed Serie A club.

"I'm sorry that this story has had some sad moments", he said.

The club's new sporting director Monchi had already revealed Totti was to retire from playing at the end of the season - but the player himself had until now remained silent on the matter.

He said of the Italian: "I think he would agree that I play football for the people, to make the people happy".
