British PM Theresa May loses majority in shock election result

British Prime Minister Theresa May will cling to power, despite her party's unexpectedly poor performance in the snap general election, as the Conservative Party drew on support from its Northern Irish ally, the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), which gained seats in the poll.

Instead, her election gamble has failed and she and her Conservative party have been weakened, with many on Friday questioning May's future as prime minister.

May has said that she will begin to form her government, with the support of the DUP (Democratic Unionists Party).

"What I think is important in the Brexit negotiations, which will start in 10 days time, is that we have the certainty of a Government that can take forward a plan into those negotiations".

"We will fulfill the promise of Brexit together and over the next five years build a country in which no one, and no community, is left behind", May said.

A Downing Street spokesperson confirmed that May would meet the British head of state at Buckingham Palace, reports Efe news.

UK's main broadcasters were reporting sources had told them May would not be quitting in the wake of the shock result.

Niblett said: "Having made Brexit the rationale for the election, she nevertheless made no effort during the campaign to explain how she would manage the negotiation or what a successful deal would look like".

But her campaign unravelled after a policy U-turn on care for the elderly, while Corbyn's old-school socialist platform and more impassioned campaigning style won wide support.

Theresa May's Conservatives, who anticipated an increased number of seats throughout the General Election campaign, find themselves the largest party in Parliament, but without an overall majority.

The scene on the beach is a whirlwind combination of fast cuts and aerial shots, showcasing the female warriors' fierce training. Gadot's response fluttered fans' hopes of a possible crossover between Wonder Woman and the Norse god in an upcoming flick.

"I don't think that's in the hearts and minds of Londoners at the minute, (not) almost as much as security is", said Sheard, 22.

The Telegraph newspaper, seen as leaning toward Britain's Conservative Party, reported Friday - citing anonymous party sources - that May had been put "on notice" by her Conservative colleagues not to bend to the wishes of opposition parties and soften her stance on Brexit negotiations.

She added that Britain will still remain in Europe after Brexit, and that she wanted the country to remain a good partner.

"In a sort of Bernie Sanders way, he just created this sort of idealistic momentum around young people", Dunt said. She was enjoying huge popularity at the time and the Labour Party led by Jeremy Corbyn looked weak.

"We put forward our policies - strong and hopeful policies - and they've gained an awesome response and traction", he said.

European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker also said he hoped there would be no further delay to the negotiations "we are desperately waiting for".

Some Brexit advocates want the U.K.to reject terms offered by the EU and possibly leave the union without an agreement.

"Theresa may or may not be the prime minister".

In the aftermath of one of the most sensational nights in British electoral history, politicians and commentators called May's decision to hold the election a colossal mistake and derided her performance on the campaign trail.
