Rodman begins sightseeing on NKorea trip he hopes opens door

United States student Otto Warmbier is hospitalized in Cincinnati after he was returned from North Korea.

We learn from this that the Trump administration has standard diplomatic channels to North Korea, and that the North Korean government uses those channels and wants to keep lines open by making appropriate humanitarian gestures like the repatriation of Mr. Warmbier.

After a short trial on 16 March, Mr Warmbier was given a 15-year prison sentence for crimes against the state.

In a tearful statement made before his trial, Warmbier told a gathering of reporters in Pyongyang he was offered a used vehicle worth $10,000 if he could get a propaganda banner and was also told that if he was detained and didn't return, $200,000 would be paid to his mother in the form of a charitable donation. The few reports that exist about the conference said he admitted to bribing North Korean residents for information about Pyongyang's nuclear weapons program.

The State Department is continuing to discuss the situation of three other detained Americans with North Korea, Tillerson said.

State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert has declined to provide details on the circumstance of Warmbier's release or comment on his health condition.

Officials involved in securing Warmbier's release told The Post that it had nothing to do with Rodman's trip to Pyongyang, calling it a "bizarre coincidence" that might have been a ploy by North Korea to distract from Warmbier's condition. Leigh also said North Korea security claimed he was spying on behalf of U.S. President Donald Trump, and that he had been sent to assassinate Kim Jong Un. An ambulance took Warmbier from the airport to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Fred Warmbier told Fox News' Tucker Carlson on Wednesday from his OH home that his son, Otto, "is not in great shape right now".

Asked whether he had spoken with Trump about his trip, Rodman said: "I'm pretty sure he's pretty much happy with the fact that I'm over here trying to accomplish something that we both need".

During the E3 event, Nintendo shared several details of the game, but this co-op mode was kept a secret for the last. Mario rushes to save the day on a hat-shaped airship called the Odyssey , setting out to explore multiple Kingdoms.

Warmbier left North Korea on the same day that former NBA basketball player Dennis Rodman came to the country for the fifth time. For over a year, Warmbier was deprived of his most basic of human rights as the poor student was innocently caught in the cross-hairs of North Korea's continued acts of provocation against the United States.

Two people hug outside the plane carrying Otto Warmbier, a 22-year-old University of Virginia undergraduate student who was imprisoned in North Korea in March 2016, before he is transferred from a transport aircraft to an amb. Swedish diplomats, representing US interests, were denied consular access to him. And Yun was dispatched to North Korea and visited Warmbier with two doctors on Monday, and demanded his release.

James Leigh, a Canadian visitor to North Korea, told Radio Free Asia he was in the same detention room as Tony Kim, aka Kim Sang Duk, who was detained April 22.

Warmbier was not seen in public after his March 2016 sentencing. Officials said he was to stay until Saturday. His family says he's in a coma.

Warmbier would have graduated from U.Va. last month had he not been detained.

Sullivan says the university community has Warmbier's family in its thoughts and prayers as he returns home.

"This system imposes unduly harsh sentences for actions that would not be considered crimes in the United States and threatens USA citizen detainees with being treated in accordance with 'wartime law of the DPRK'".

North Korea regularly accuses Washington and Seoul of sending spies to overthrow its government to enable the US -backed South Korean government to take control of the Korean Peninsula.

Warmbier was detained at Pyongyang airport while on his way home to the USA in January 2016. It is imperative that the State Department continue its efforts to secure their release.
