DUP agrees principles to back UK Conservatives

The Prime Minister then came under pressure from the Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson, strengthened by Tory success north of the border, who called on her to think again about leaving the European Union single market. But the ballot-box humiliation has seriously - and possibly mortally - wounded her leadership just as Britain is about to begin complex exit talks with the European Union.

"The Prime Minister has tonight spoken with the DUP to discuss finalising a confidence and supply deal when Parliament returns next week", a Downing Street spokeswoman said.

The development comes after Mrs May sent her Chief Whip Gavin Williamson to Belfast for talks with the DUP after the election left the Tories eight seats short of the 326 required for a majority.

The outlines of the proposed agreement - which would prop-up Mrs May's minority Government - will be put to the Cabinet for discussion on Monday.

The resignations will buy time for the Prime Minister, but she is still fighting for her political life amid a growing belief in Tory circles that she must go after a period of months as an "interim leader".

Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson, who wields considerable influence after the Scottish Tories won 13 seats, said: "I want to ensure that we can look again at issues like Brexit which we know we are now going to have to get cross-party support for".

The party said Saturday that Nick Timothy and Fiona Hill have quit.

However, it was thought the DUP was wary of coalition, given the miserable fate of the Liberal Democrats after entering government with the Conservatives.

The device will compete with Amazon's Alexa and Google Home , and is scheduled to be released later this year, the company said . As part of that session, a new Mac Pro was promised for 2018, along with an all-new model called the iMac Pro for late 2017.

Without a majority, she could be forced to seek consensus on the approach she takes. Her weakened position in the party rules out big changes, and May's office has said that the most senior Cabinet members - including Treasury chief Philip Hammond, Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson and Home Secretary Amber Rudd - will keep their jobs, but she is expected to shuffle the lower ranks of ministers. May's gamble in calling an early election backfired spectacularly, as her Conservative Party lost its majority in Parliament.

However, it is not yet clear what type of concessions the Conservatives have agreed to in order to secure the backing of DUP, a party with religious origins and an established historical association with Unionist terrorist groups.

Northern Ireland is the only part of the U.K.in which same-sex marriage is illegal.

"On Brexit, I have argued that we need to come back to the middle, including people who voted to Remain".

Meanwhile, Sinn Fein accused the DUP of betraying the interests of Northern Ireland - with Stormont leader Michelle O'Neill predicting a confidence and supply deal would "end in tears".

"It's an issue very close to my heart and one that I wanted categoric assurances from the prime minister on, and I received (them)", said Davidson, who is engaged to be married to her female partner.

Newspaper headlines saw her as just clinging on.

May's authority over her party was shattered by the election result.
