Facebook is also introducing 20 GIFs featuring some of the internet's most recognisable faces, including DNCE, Logan Paul and Landon Moss. And Facebook is way ahead of us in this regard as they're giving both users and the GIF a present this year: the ability to share GIFs in the comment section of Facebook posts.

The GIF button will allow users to search and post from a range of services, including Giphy and Tenor, helping users become more animated with their responses. If you have an Uber account, you don't need a vehicle, and now with Facebook's GIF support, you don't need to possess an original thought. Earlier, GIFs were available on Facebook Messenger only. A few months after it began testing the feature, the web site has rolled the button out to all users, finally allowing everyone to post GIFs directly in the comment section. Now there's simply a GIF button that you can press, type in some words, and marvel as your creativity is outsourced to someone else.

The platform has supported GIFs for two years, but required users to provide an external URL to the image.

Happy birthday to the GIF! According to that nearly 13 billion GIFs were sent past year. Moreover, at New Year's Day 2017, people send more than 400 million GIF. Do you know that people send almost 25,000 GIFs on Messenger every minute?

Upon reporting first-quarter earnings, Facebook said it had 1.94 billion monthly active users and 1.28 billion daily active users. It means 25000 GIFs every minute.

Finally, as part of the 30 year celebrations, Facebook is looking to solve the long-standing debate over how the word "GIF" is pronounced.
