Many Cuban exiles embrace Trump policy but want more

"The previous administration's easing of restriction on travel and trade does not help the Cuban people, they only enrich the Cuban regime", Trump said.

On "Special Report" tonight, Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL) praised President Donald Trump for cancelling former President Barack Obama's "one-sided deal" with Cuba. In his speech, Trump said the Cuban government must come to the negotiating table with a new agreement that benefits the Cuban people. "We do not want USA dollars to prop up a military monopoly that exploits and abuses the citizens of Cuba", Trump pledged.

Critics said the Trump restrictions will undermine the president's goal of a free Cuba, and that increased exchanges would do more to encourage an overthrow of the government in Havana.

Trump aides said Rubio was "very helpful" to the administration as it spent months reviewing the policy.

But Trump was leaving in place many of Obama's changes, including the reopened United States embassy in Havana, even as he sought to show he was making good on a campaign promise to take a tougher line against Cuba. Marco Rubio, say that this new approach will limit funds to Cuba's military.

Despite the changes, the US will maintain diplomatic relations with the Cuban government.

"They know exactly what they're doing and what they're trying to do is stop travel to Cuba", James Williams, president of a pro-Cuban lobbying group, told NPR.

Congressman Williams staff member one of multiple shot in Virginia
Jeff Flake of Arizona, who was practicing with the House members, described hearing "dozens and dozens and dozens of shots fired". Reps Joe Barton , Kevin Brady , Mike Conaway and Williams - that attended the practice.

Protesters greeted Trump, who was making his first trip to Miami since becoming president, to two continuous hours of the Beatles' "Back in the USSR" on a speaker.

Surely a coincidence. The regulations would restrict tourists traveling outside of groups, person to person deals, and travel arranged through the state-owned GAESA agency.

Better travel to Cuba now while you can, as President Donald Trump just made it significantly more hard to visit the island nation.

"He is [Trump is] ushering in a Cold War - a return to the Cold War - between Washington and Havana", Acosta said.

"The self-directed, individual travel permitted by the Obama administration will be prohibited", according to the release.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the policy before Trump announces it, despite the president's regular criticism of the use of anonymous sources. Cuban-Americans will still be able to travel to the country and send remittances.

"Today, a new president lands in Miami to reach out his hand to the people of Cuba", Rubio said. Much of the significant changes were aimed at tourism, a target that has some definite losers other than the Cuban people.
