May confirms she will form government with help of Northern Ireland party

Voting for ‘change’ in Northern Ireland in recent years has proved a futile gesture

Yesterday the people of the United Kingdom produced an election result that has shaken the UK's political establishment to the core.

And the party that everyone is talking about now is the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) who Theresa May says will work with the Conservatives to help form a government for the UK.

May had unexpectedly called the snap election seven weeks ago, even though no vote was due until 2020.

May wanted to win explicit backing for her stance on Brexit, which involves leaving the EU's single market and imposing restrictions on immigration while trying to negotiate free trade deal with the bloc.

Some members of Parliament in May's Tory party and the rival Labour Party favor a softer Brexit, in which the United Kingdom might maintain a much closer relationship with the EU.

The march marked the second day of protests over the possibility of the new Conservative administration, under Theresa May, trying to forge a majority government with the DUP.

Some remembered it as the party of Ian Paisley, the firebrand Protestant cleric who once heckled the Pope himself, calling him the antichrist.

It said the campaign failed to get "Theresa's positive plan for the future across" or "notice the surge in Labour support".

Meanwhile, Gavin Barwell, who lost his Croydon Central seat at the election, was quickly appointed as Downing Street's new chief of staff, bringing "considerable experience" to the post, the Prime Minister said. Its cartoon depicted May in a coffin with her feet sticking out and a speech bubble saying "Nothing has changed", a line she repeated several times as she reversed a key policy on social care during the campaign. "May's alliance is a dishonorable coalition of chaos", tweeted the British environmental and political activist George Monbiot.

On the other hand, it is for the first time that the West Indies have lost their place in the Champions Trophy. He said that the presence of five experienced players in his team is what England would be missing.

Anand Menon, professor of politics at King's College London, said her lack of a majority made it far more likely that Britain would leave the European Union without a deal. "Do your best to avoid a "no deal" as result of 'no negotiations'". Here are 5 things you should know.

Speaking Friday on Europe 1 radio, Edouard Philippe conceded that "the tone" of Brexit negotiations may be affected by British Prime Minister Theresa May's failure to secure a parliamentary majority.

With 649 of 650 seats declared, the Conservatives had won 318 seats and Labour 261 followed by the pro-independence Scottish National Party on 34.

But with more seats than any other party, she has the first opportunity to form a government, but she needs to have an overall majority of 326 MPs to get legislation past the House of Commons.

However, he said he was skeptical to conclude that "Britons' sovereign decision on Brexit has been cast into doubt in any way". Following Brexit, the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland would become an European Union frontier and the DUP is not in favour of this "hard border", which would enforce checkpoints and other intrusive measures.

There's plenty of overlap between the DUP and May's Conservative Party.

But on taking leadership of the party in 2016, Arlene Foster promised to block any attempt to change these laws, telling reporters "I would not want abortion to be as freely available here as it is in England".

He says the election was not a referendum on Brexit and that he fully expected the process to continue, but that results could make negotiations more hard.
