Secret Service We don't have Trump tapes

The agency's response to a freedom of information request submitted by The Wall Street Journal doesn't exclude the possibility that recordings could have been created by another entity. The Secret Service said a review of its main indices found no records related to the request.

"White House aides have declined to answer questions about whether there are tapes, with press secretary Sean Spicer saying he was "not aware" and his deputy, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, saying she didn't know and then quipping she would "look under the couches" to check", the Journal reported.

Despite his accusations against Comey, the president nonetheless refused to confirm or deny the existence of recordings of conversations with Comey that could prove the president right.

During congressional testimony, Comey told the Senate Intelligence Committee that he hoped those tapes existed.

The Secret Service, which protects the president and his family, maintained a secret taping system for the White House in the eras of John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon.

Trump to Tighten Cuba Travel Policies But Doesn't Reverse Them
It put the cost at as much as $3.5 billion in lost revenues and 10,000 jobs lost in the travel industry over the next four years. Last year, Diaz-Balart placed similar language into a House budget bill before Democrats forced it out.

After Mr Trump again intimated last week that he could have recorded his controversial discussions with fired Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey, it remained unclear if that claim was true.

'I've seen the tweet about the tapes, ' Comey said.

Legislators have called on Trump to release any such recordings that may exist. He added, "Oh, you're going to be very disappointed when you hear the answer, don't worry".

Spicer told reporters Monday that it "depends on the scope of the questions" and said it was "premature" to say.

"I think the president made it clear what his intentions were on Friday", he said, referring to Mr. Trump's comment at a Rose Garden press conference that he would address the issue soon.
