The father of former FBI Director James Comey says his son laughs when the subject of leaking is brought up.

The U.S. Secret Service said Monday it doesn't have any recordings or transcripts of any tapes recorded within President Donald Trump's White House, a disclosure that failed to rule out whether any tapes exist of Trump's conversations with ousted FBI Director James Comey. While the agency said they did not posses either, that does not preclude the possibility that other individuals or agencies recorded White House conversations secretly.

The week of Comey's testimony, Trump was asked whether or not he had made any recordings of his conversations with Comey.

Comey, for his part, said Thursday: "Lordy, I hope there are tapes".

Sessions to appear before Senate intelligence committee
Attorney General Jeff Sessions was in for sharp questioning by senators on the Senate Intelligence committee Tuesday. The Senate panel is investigating allegations of Russian meddling in the 2016 US presidential election.

"I would like to invite the president to testify before the Senate", Schumer said.

Spicer said Trump would deliver the message "When the president's ready".

More than four decades ago, the Senate voted to create a special investigative committee to look into the Watergate break-in, and Archibald Cox, the Watergate special prosecutor, subpoenaed the White House tapes from Nixon.

Roland Rotunda, a Chapman University law professor, explained similarly that such tapes would be obtainable, though it would be more complicated to get those tapes from the presidential administration to the legislature.
