Trump promises unfulfilled by House GOP health bill

She says Democratic voters' support for Obamacare is much stronger than Republican voters' support for the Republican alternative. "If the federal government can't fix it, they better give us permission to fix it here". Others, however, want to hew to a tough line on state flexibility, as well as Medicaid spending reductions and other issues.

Changes in the cost of health are also a major area of concern for the American public.

Republicans may have a touch of tunnel vision, suggests Robert Blendon, who follows the politics of health care at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. But even then, this bill sets aside almost $140 billion to help states reduce those costs to patients who, through no fault of their own, have a pre-existing condition that costs more to cover.

In the new survey, 49% of respondents said they had a favorable view of the PPACA, whereas 31% said they favored the GOP's American Health Care Act (AHCA), which narrowly passed the House on May 4.

But now that the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office has offered its assessment of the bill that was passed in the House of Representatives, defending the prosaically named American Health Care Act isn't an easy task. Trump, who made the repeal of Obamacare a campaign promise, described the bill as a "great plan". In the March poll, 35 percent of independents said it would make the health care system worse.

But, as the Kaiser poll shows, changing something people are used to - even if they don't love it - is far harder than it looks.

Child-killer Karla Homolka volunteered at Montreal school
In an interview with Niagara This Week on Thursday, Penner called the news of Homolka's school volunteering " absolutely insane ". She was released in 2005 and married the brother of her attorney, with whom she has multiple kids, according to reports.

The reform continues to enjoy support among Trump's base, with 67 percent of Republicans saying they approve of the AHCA. Those in poor health left in comprehensive plans could face premiums that keep rising until they become unaffordable, because there would be fewer healthy people in those plans to share the cost.

The poll was conducted from May 19-May 22 and surveyed a random sampling of 1,205 adults ages 18 and older, living in the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii.

Republicans in the Senate have said they would most likely write their own bill instead of voting on the AHCA, but For Our Future called for Rubio to oppose any bill that increases the number of uninsured, ends the Medicaid expansion "or Medicaid as we know it", or eliminates protections for people with pre-existing conditions. To pass a bill without help from Democrats, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's caucus could only suffer two defectors, which would allow Vice President Mike Pence to break a 50-50 tie.

The CBO found that extra $8 billion, in addition to the almost $130 billion allocated to the state stability fund, still isn't enough for the plan's high-risk pools.

The most widespread myth surrounding this bill pertains to pre-existing conditions. And those are very negative consequences of legislation that clearly isn't winning friends, even among Senate Republicans.

Last week ... the last insurer (in Iowa) said, 'We're pulling out.' That means in 94 of 99 (Iowa) counties, no health insurance choices.Senate Republicans are warning that the odds are high that Trumpcare is going to fail in the Senate, which is going to leave Republicans begging to do a deal with Democrats on health care.
