"I will be announcing my decision on the Paris Accord over the next few days", Mr Trump wrote on Twitter.

"I'm hearing from a lot of people both ways", President Trump told reporters as he welcomed Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc to the White House.

But officials cautioned that details were still being finalized.

Earlier yesterday, a White House official said Trump was expected to pull out of the deal, but added that there could be "caveats". Musk grew Tesla, a sustainable energy company offering electric vehicles, energy storage and solar systems, to combat climate change and spread clean energy technology. During the presidential race, Trump said that he plans to withdraw from the agreement, claiming that it harms America's economy.

He added he would have "no choice" but to depart Trump's advisory councils if the U.S. pulled out of the climate deal. All countries will be required to take some action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, regardless of economic development, by 2020.

"Whoever becomes the next United Kingdom prime minister, they must now step up on climate action and show that our "special relationship" with the USA can not extend to supporting a nation that would so flippantly jeopardise the climate for future generations", he said.

A White House official said Wednesday that Trump was planning to pull out of the Paris deal, although a final decision had not been made.

Mr Trump's position on the Paris accord was a focal point of last week's G7 summit in Sicily, at which leaders of the world's six other leading economies pressed him to renew the United States commitment to the deal.

Muguruza begins title defense beating Schiavone to reach second round
Fifth-seeded Milos Raonic is safely through to the second round after sweeping past Steve Darcis of Belgium in straight sets. Their match was suspended because of darkness on Tuesday with the 12th-seeded Frenchman trailing 7-5, 6-4, 6-7 (6), 5-4.

The decision will put the United States in league with Syria and Nicaragua as the world's only non-participants in the Paris Climate Agreement.

Hundreds of high-profile businesses have spoken out in favour of the deal, including Apple, Google and Walmart.

Polluting industries such as oil and coal are highly automated and are unlikely to embark on a major hiring spree even if the United States dropped out of the Paris agreement, experts say.

Trump's predecessor Barack Obama enacted the deal without U.S. Senate ratification.

Juncker said G-7 leaders "tried to explain this in clear simple sentences to Mr. Trump", but "it looks like that attempt failed". "This notion, 'I am Trump, I am American, America first and I am getting out, ' that is not going to happen".

Trump's aides are divided when it comes to the agreement.

Three, Trump is not a fan of the regulations and spending that the previous administration proposed to meet its goals, which he warns will reduce economic growth.

On the other side, Scott Pruitt, chief of the Environmental Agency (EPA) and Trump's adviser Steve Bannon have expressed their support for a United States exit from the deal, signed by Barack Obama in 2015. Chief strategist Steve Bannon supports an exit, as does Environmental Protection Agency administrator Scott Pruitt. Senior adviser Jared Kushner generally thinks the deal is bad but still would like to see if emissions targets can be changed. Either way, it would send a chilling signal to the globe that the world's second largest greenhouse gas emitter doesn't want to tackle the effects of climate change. More than 150 businesses in the US already have pledged to reduce their carbon emissions, increase low-carbon investments and invest in sustainable practices.
