United Kingdom snap vote results leave Brexit negotiations uncertain

Katie Perrior, who quit as May's communications chief in April, said Timothy and Hill were "great street fighters but poor political leaders" and exercised too much power over the prime minister. Peter Robinson, for example, who was DUP leader and Northern Ireland's first minister until a year ago, was an active member of Ulster Resistance.

British Prime Minister Theresa May was still fighting for survival on Saturday after a failed election gamble undermined her authority, plunging the country into a major political crisis despite hastily forming a government supported by a small Northern Irish party, the pro-Brexit Democratic Unionist Party (DUP). Now that it has made a decision to jump ship, it seems it can't get its act together to actually leave. But the prime minister said her new government would now prepare for discussions in 10 days time.

Britain has a hung parliament after the Conservatives lost their majority on an extraordinary night. "I believe that's important". Britain's opposition Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said today there could be another election this year or early in 2018 after the vote on Thursday produced no clear victor.

Yesterday Corbyn was pictured chatting on the phone and at a children's football training session in a park in Islington, North London - after one of his MPs said he missed an election "open goal". "But at the same time, she's very, very weak".

In return, she won effusive pledges of loyalty.

She warned that if she lost just six seats, she would no longer be Prime Minister, and an unprepared Jeremy Corbyn would go "naked and alone" to the negotiating table. Liam Fox, trade minister, also said that May was the only person to take Britain out of the European Union.

May, whose two key aides resigned amid anger about how they handled the campaign, leads a brittle government as the United Kingdom prepares to start talks on exiting the European Union.

"Theresa May is a dead woman walking".

Meanwhile, a buoyant Corbyn was insisting he saw a route for Labour to form a government, although it was not clear how he would command the support of a majority of members of parliament given the electoral arithmetic.

She said the two parties had enjoyed "a strong relationship" over many years.

Mounting criticism and a spirit of vendetta claimed the scalps of two of May's closest advisers, Fiona Hill and Nick Timothy, who resigned in the wake of the snap election that wiped out the Tories' parliamentary majority. But "we know when they must end".

"I don't think throwing us into a leadership battle at this moment in time, when we are about to launch into these hard negotiations, would be in the best interests of the country", Evans said.

Whether that reality is a prolonged period of troubled and unstable minority government, with hints of a "coalition of chaos" in a deal with the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), remains to be seen.

DUP leader Arlene Foster is to meet with May in London on Tuesday to discuss their arrangement, Sky News reported.

According to the source, DUP will support the Conservative Party in key issues without formal establishment of a coalition, should such an agreement be reached.

Many critics, including Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson, have expressed concerns over the DUP's stances against gay marriage and abortion, among other issues.

A spokesman for Mr Johnson said: "The Foreign Secretary is 100% supporting the PM and working with her to get the best deal for Britain". May, who had campaigned against Brexit past year, delivered her terms for withdrawal on March 29 that included a clean break from the European Union single market.

"I don't think she does have a majority in the House of Commons for leaving the single market", she told Sky News.
