The images taken July 10th, when the Juno spacecraft performed its 7th close flyby of Jupiter, were processed by citizen scientists using data from the Juno Cam.

"For hundreds of years scientists have been observing, wondering and theorizing about Jupiter's Great Red Spot", said Scott Bolton, Juno principal investigator from the Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio. With data from Voyager, Galileo, New Horizons, Hubble and now Juno, Green said, we have a better understanding of the composition and evolution of this iconic feature. "That is what I live for".

Juno's next rendezvous with Jupiter will take place on September 1.

Juno's mission is to understand how Jupiter formed and how it influenced the development of the rest of the solar system.

Taylor report calls for greater protection for gig economy workers
The document recommends that workers in firms such as Deliveroo be given the status of "dependent contractors" and this should carry benefits.

Aside from the University of Iowa helping with creating equipment on Juno, a company in Eastern Iowa may also be paying close attention to the images.

According to NASA, the Great Red Spot's winds peak at approximately 400 miles per hour and have been swirling for more than 150 years.

As of April 3, 2017, the storm measured 10,159 miles across, or roughly 1.3 times as wide as our own planet. One of the more impressive shots showed The Great Red Spot, a storm that's has raged for 350 years and is so large it could swallow Earth.

Scientists don't know how the Great Red Spot gets its crimson color. The Great Red Spot puts storms on our planet to shame. "We are pleased to share the beauty and excitement of space science with everyone". "I have been following the Juno mission since it launched", Major said.
