Musk said The Boring Company, an infrastructure startup he launched late a year ago, will carry out construction of the underground tunnel.

Tesla founder Elon Musk claimed he received "verbal government approval" Thursday for his hyperloop project, a high speed train that would transport passengers from NY to Washington, 29 minutes.

In response to a query from Inc., de Blasio's deputy press secretary Ben Sarle said via email, "Nobody in City Hall, or any of our city agencies, has heard from Mr. Musk or any representatives of his company".

Every time Elon Musk releases information about The Boring Company we seemingly have to rethink our definition of the word ambitious.

President Donald Trump in March met with Musk, who raised the Boring Company idea then, White House officials said.

That leaves us with the million dollar question: Who gave Musk the green light? The Boring Company did not respond to a request for comment.

The Boring Company's website mentions that its tunnels would make "Hyperloop adoption viable and enable rapid transit across densely populated regions", but this tweet is the first public indication that the two arms of Musk's innovative new transport concepts would be working together.

The Bank of England has praised the new notes for being waterproof and having enhanced security features. This event took place at Winchester Cathedral , the city where Austen passed away in 1817.

But Earth-optimized tunneling machines won't do the job on Mars, he stressed.

His series of tweets indicate that while The Boring Company, the infrastructure and tunneling company that Musk founded, received "verbal" government approval, there are still steps to be made before getting formal approval.

He believes his Hyperloop technology, which is still in development, could deliver travelers across the longest stretch of the line - NY to Washington - in just 29 minutes.

Hyperloops are underground, extremely high-speed rail systems.

The entrepreneur has already begun digging under SpaceX's Los Angeles headquarters, and tweeted last month that he's had "promising conversations" with mayor Eric Garcetti about building a network of tunnels under the city.

There's obviously a significant gap between Musk's vision and a full tunnel segment, but the latest tweets suggest it's a graspable start.

Musk's plans for the East Coast were met with skepticism, especially in New York City, where commuters there are in the midst of the "summer of hell". "They will never let you down".
