Coutinho hands transfer request to Liverpool

On Friday it was reported by Sky Sports that Coutinho submitted a transfer request via email, with Barcelona being his preferred destination.

Philippe Coutinho has formally asked to leave Liverpool this lunchtime, as the player looks to secure a move to Barcelona.

Speaking at an earlier news conference previewing the league match at Vicarage Road (12:30 BST kick-off), Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said the Brazilian would miss the season opener because of a back problem.

The comments come following Coutinho's move to secure a transfer to Barcelona.

The source said that Coutinho will not be sold and that Liverpool consider the matter closed, with the club's owners now publicly backing that stance up in a statement.

Liverpool released this statement today: "We wish to offer clarity as regards our position on a possible transfer of Philippe Coutinho".

Patients Being Treated Following 'Chemical Release' at NH Hospital
Vasapolli said it's unknown whether any surgeries had been in progress at the time and had to be stopped. Vasapolli said all affected staff members have either been released or transferred to other hospitals.

Some cases however, were not as fruitful - Luka Modric told Tottenham that he wanted to leave after receiving a tempting offer from Chelsea, but his plea fell on deaf ears with Spurs.

"It's hard now as he doesn't want to be there - Liverpool is one of the biggest clubs in the world but he doesn't want to be there". But I don't think so because I think it was pretty clear what the club, FSG, said about it.

The Brazil worldwide was missing with a back injury, according to Liverpool, although he might not have been in the right frame of mind to play anyway after handing in a transfer request on Friday in light of interest in the playmaker from Barcelona. There is actually nothing else to say about it.

The Brazil worldwide directly communicated this desire to the Merseysiders via email on Friday following a strong statement from Fenway Sports Group (FSG) that his exit would not be sanctioned this summer .

Liverpool owners, Fenway Sports Group, made a "definitive" statement over Coutinho's future, but the Brazilian still wants out.

He is also a doubt for the first leg of Liverpool's Champions League qualifying playoff against Hoffenheim in Germany on Tuesday. "Pre-season is over now and everybody's happy, I think we played a good pre-season and we can go with confidence into the new season".
