As of Monday morning, police were still searching for the suspect.

The Clinton Police Department has no body camera policy, but police were working Monday morning to determine if there was dashcam video from Michael's vehicle or surveillance video from nearby businesses, Lowe said.

A manhunt was under way for a motorist charged with killing a small-town Missouri police officer during a routine traffic stop over the weekend, police said Monday. The officer was able to return fire, but police aren't sure if the suspect was struck. He approached McCarthy on Sunday night at 10.45pm at an intersection on Missouri 13 in Clinton, Missouri, for a registration violation.

Michael returned fire, but McCarthy managed to get back into his vehicle and drive away, crashing the auto just two blocks west, officials said. In July 2015, he was charged with illegal firearm possession, although the court records do not show if he received a sentence for that charge.

The driver of a Dodge Nitro got out of the vehicle and started shooting, Missouri Highway Patrol Sgt. Bill Lowe told KSHB-TV.

UN Security Council imposes tough new sanctions on North Korea
The resolution bans North Korea from exporting coal, iron, lead and seafood products estimated to be worth over $1 billion. North Korea has already faced a decade's worth of ever-increasing sanctions backed by the US and its allies.

In addition to the disorderly conduct conviction, McCarthy had an extensive criminal background in New Hampshire.

McCarthy is considered armed and risky.

"[Mr Michael] was heroic right to the end". He was a Clinton resident and had been with the department for less than a year. "He was protecting his community", he said.

Michael was known in the community and leaves behind a wife and step sons. Authorities believe he is on foot and still in the Clinton area, 75 miles (120 kilometers) southeast of Kansas City.
