National Football League suspends Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott after domestic violence investigation

Dallas Cowboys rumors ezekiel elliott wont be suspended for week 1

Elliott's suspension, according to the league, stems from allegations of domestic violence made by his ex-girlfriend, Tiffany Thompson, in July 2016.

City Attorney's office announced a year ago that no charges would be filed against Elliott because of "conflicting and inconsistent information".

Elliott, who has denied the allegations against him, has three days to appeal the ruling by the league.

Dallas' trip to play San Francisco is its sixth game of the year (and the 49ers' seventh), leaving a chance he's available to play if he appeals and the suspension is shortened.

After reviewing the record, and having considered the views of the independent advisors, the commissioner determined that the credible evidence established that Elliott engaged in conduct that violated National Football League policy.

But when the Cowboys and Giants meet to open the regular season on September 10, Elliott will likely be on the sideline.

LEGO Group names Niels Christiansen CEO
Knudstorp said the transition to a new CEO occurred more rapidly than the Board had anticipated. Mr Christiansen, 51, was previously the head of global industrial technology firm Danfoss.

Domestic violence awareness groups condemned the conduct and the NFL's lack of public comment at the time - in light of its past promise to act forcefully in cases of sexual or physical abuse.

Elliott did not immediately comment on the suspension.

Most people predicted four games, a la Tom Brady's Deflategate suspension, but this would obviously go a step beyond that, covering Elliott's wide-ranging list of alleged issues.

Under the league's policy, a player doesn't necessarily have to be formally charged with a crime to be punished by the NFL.

Elliott has been sanctioned after an investigation of the league, which was searched on its recent past for more than a year. For each the league said medical experts reviewed photographs and found the injuries were "recent and consistent" with the victim's description of the incident. He was video recorded pulling a woman's top down at a St. Patrick's Day parade in March.
