Kargman was the one to come up with the new idea, and she later teamed up with Meyers and NBC. The pilot featured Eddie Izzard, Jerry O'Connell, and Portia De Rossi as the Munster family, and was directed by X-Men's Bryan Singer. The show ran on CBS from 1964 to 1966.

Do any of you remember the attempted reboot of The Munsters titled "Mockingbird Lane" back in 2012 by Bryan Fuller? That green-lighted comedy series features a cynical Ivy League professor who loses out on his dream job and goes to work as a high school biology teacher where he imposes his unorthodox teaching style and uses the kids to plot his revenge.

As reported by the Hollywood Reporter, there have been a series of attempts at reboots in recent times, some of which were successful, while others failed horribly. After a false start a few years back, the Munsters are finally returning to the small screen - and 1313 Mockingbird Lane is apparently moving postcodes.

No one is quite sure what the fan's intentions were when they ran on stage, but security guards weren't going to wait and see. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said the suspect is in custody but did not release any more information about him.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the reboot will be inspired by the original series but the comedy will centre on an offbeat family trying to keep to their roots as they struggle to fit in while living in the hipster haven of Brooklyn. The half-hour single-camera series is now in development. Kargman (Odd Mom Out, Intern) will write the new scripts and Meyers (Late Night with Seth Meyers, Saturday Night Live) will executive produce alongside Shoemaker (Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Late Night with Seth Meyers, Saturday Night Live). Herman was married to Grandpa's daughter Lily, played by Yvonne De Carlo.

The show aired as a Halloween special and was not ordered to series.

"I won't say we won't do another version of The Munsters again", NBC chief Bob Greenblatt said in January 2013.
