Ravens Refute Report That Bisciotti Vetoed Kaepernick Deal

Bisciotti recently consulted former Raven Ray Lewis about signing Kaepernick, even though Lewis has been critical of Kaepernick for protesting during the national anthem and was once charged with murder (though those charges were dropped after Lewis agreed to testify against the other men who were charged and plead guilty to obstruction of justice).

However, it seems that ship might have potentially set sail as the Ravens majority owner Steve Bisciotti has reportedly shown "resistance" to the idea of signing free-agent quarterback despite support from general manager Ozzie Newsome and head coach John Harbaugh, per ESPN's Dianna Russini.

"We are going through a process, and we have not made a decision", Newsome said Wednesday afternoon in a statement. He also denied report that Bisciotti blocked the move, saying those who are making those claims are "wrong". He also said he prays for Kaepernick and has the quarterback's name in his Bible. By Saturday, Silver reported that Kaepernick would absolutely love to play for the Ravens, a prospect Harbaugh said remained a possibility at some point in the future. "I think it would be a good spot for him".

"All my years being in the league, I never received more emotional mail from people that I did about that issue", Mara told TheMMQB.com. It wasn't one or two letters. Mallett, who hasn't exactly inspired confidence while working with the first-team offense since camp started, has just eight starts in his five seasons in the NFL. "We're very sensitive to it, and we're monitoring it, and we're still, as Ozzie says, scrimmaging it, and we're trying to figure out what's the right tact".

Kaepernick, 1-10 as a starter last season with the 49ers, as a 32-32 career record and led San Francisco to the 2013 Super Bowl, which the 49ers lost to Baltimore.

"The football field is our sanctuary", Lewis posted on his Twitter account.
