Dilip Kumar Battling Renal Failure

Legendary actor Dilip Kumar, 94, who is being treated at a hospital here for kidney problems, is not doing good and may need dialysis, a doctor said August 4. Ajay Kumar Pandey, the vice president of Lilavati Hospitals said "Dilip Kumar has been battling renal failure and the kidney functions are yet to turn normal". On the contrary, it has worsened. He is on the ventilator. "We will be able to give a proper briefing in the morning", said pulmonologist Dr Jalil Parkar, late last evening. "We have to pray he recovers soon".

In the past few years, Dilip Kumar has been ailing due to age-related problems.

According to his family members, the superstar was admitted for dehydration and urine infection. "The doctors here are taking good care of him". He even celebrated his 94th birthday on December 11 past year in the hospital. Earlier on Wednesday, Kumar's wife Saira Banu was quoted saying, "He is doing much better than yesterday". He will remain under observation for a couple of days.

He was also bestowed with the Padma Vibhushan, the country's second-highest civilian award, in 2015.
