The track of the storm takes it between Hatteras and Bermuda on Tuesday, keeping it off the Carolina coastline by approx.

As of the last advisory Tropical Depression Eight was located about 310 miles north-northeast of the southeastern Bahamas and was moving to the north-northwest at 14 mph.

Gert has sustained winds of 40mph and gusts up to 50mph.

The administration initially predicted that the ocean could see anywhere from 11-17 named tropical storm systems this year.

A turn toward the north is forecast to occur Sunday night, followed by a turn to the north-northeast on Monday. Tropical Depression 8 (TD 8) formed from what was Invest 99L Saturday evening around 10 PM CDT.

The system will be in a favorable environment for strengthening over the next few days.

Meanwhile, the NHC has started tracking a recently emerged low pressure area off the west coast of Africa with a slight, 20 percent probability of becoming the Atlantic's next tropical cyclone in the next five days.

Because of this, the National Hurricane Center is not issuing any watches or warnings on Gert.
