Here's When We Might Finally See The 'Riverdale' Spinoff On TV

Sabrina the Teenage Witch Series

Sabrina the Teenage Witch Series

Those of us who grew up watching Sabrina the Teenage Witch will notice the vast shift in tone from that series, much like how Riverdale has carved out its own very freakish take on Archie's stories.

After the success of Riverdale, the CW Network has announced plans to develop The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

Riverdale fans are finally going to get in touch with their magical side, but they may have to wait a while before Sabrina flies onto their TV screens again. For weeks now, there's been talk of whether or not Archie Comics' staple Sabrina, the Teenage Witch would eventually show up on Riverdale, the darkly dramatic version of the classic comics series and cartoons.

The Best Trump Jokes at the 2017 Emmys
In her acceptance speech for her supporting role on " Big Little Lies ", Laura Dern praised Vallee's "brilliance" and "bravery". But the now-President of the United States finally won his long-awaited award on Sunday night - just not quite how he'd hoped.

We're not going to lie, that sounds unbelievable.

The show is still in its infancy, but Aguirre-Sacasa and company are eyeing for a potential 2018-2019 TV season launch. Something tells us a wisecracking cat named Salem isn't a part of the equation.

Instead, Archie Comics has confirmed that the basis for the show will be Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and the show will just add a The in front to differentiate. The CW revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that the Sabrina spinoff will be an hour-long drama about the young witch trying to fit into the mortal world while also fighting off evil, magical forces that threaten her and everyone around her. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who is both chief creative officer of Archie comics and Riverdale's showrunner, will be penning the adaptation. But don't expect this to be like the comedic '90s Sabrina, the Teenage Witch show that starred Melissa Joan Hart! Whom do you think would make a great Sabrina? That's right, the series, appropriately titled The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, will be a bonafide drama plagued with a lot of death and destruction.
