It's official: Patty Jenkins will direct 'Wonder Woman 2'

Nearly a month after it was reported that Patty Jenkins was "closing a deal" to direct Wonder Woman 2, that deal has finally, actually closed.

After grossing over $800 million worldwide, both Gadot and Jenkins, who each only had a one-movie deal, had the upper hand in negotiations for the next installment of the story of the Amazonian princess.

Wonder Woman 2 is slated for a December 13th 2019 release.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the unprecedented deal will make Jenkins the highest-paid female filmmaker in history.

Gal Gadot stars in the title role of Wonder Woman, which also stars Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Connie Nielsen, Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremner, Lucy Davis, Lisa Loven Kongsli, Saïd Taghmaoui and Eugene Brave Rock.

Rash of sick pilots grounds Air Berlin flights
Germany's government has backed a €150 million ($179 million) bridging loan, and talks with potential investors are under way. The German airline Air Berlin canceled more than 110 flights on Tuesday because of a high number of sick leaves.

Jenkins is also known for writing and directing the 2003 crime drama movie Monster, about a former prostitute who was executed in 2002 for killing six men.

Are you excited for a Wonder Woman sequel?

Warner Bros. has released a clip from the Wonder Woman featurette "A Director's Vision: A Photograph Through Time", an extra included on the film's Blu-ray.

If true, this would make her the highest paid female director in the industry and may pave the way for more female directors to be given large projects like Wonder Woman. She only earned around $1 million for the first movie, but is said to be getting $8 million for her involvement in the sequel. She originally wanted an amount similar to what Zack Snyder got after he directed Man of Steel. It would have been shocking if Jenkins hadn't been asked to return, especially since bringing a new director on for a movie with a 13 December 2019 U.S. release date would be a folly.

"American film director #Patty Jenkins has finally signed a contract with #Warner Bros. to direct the sequel of "#Wonder Woman".
