Mark Cuban let JJ Barea borrow Mavericks' plane to fly supplies to Puerto Rico after hurricane

Hurricane Maria reached Puerto Rico on September 20, leaving 24 dead and most of the island without electricity, following the devastation of Hurricane Irma two weeks previous.

Mavs coach Rick Carlisle also told ESPN: "That's a situation that he's got to take care of".

Pitbull joins the likes of Mark Cuban as notable celebrities step up to help during the Hurricane Maria relief efforts.

ESPN reported that the Dallas Mavericks owner loaned the team plane to point guard J.J. Barea, the only active player on the team who is Puerto Rican. "He's going to take his mom and grandmother back with him, and my understanding is his dad is going to stay over there and slug it out with all of the recovery efforts".

Pitbull helped rescue cancer patients in hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico this week by sending his private plane to the island.

Maria is the worst storm to hit Puerto Rico in almost 90 years, according to The Wall Street Journal's Nicole Friedman, causing as much as $85 billion in insured losses. He quickly made plans for his trip home after communicating with family and figuring out where help was needed most.
