Russian Federation says US Iran sanctions undermine nuclear deal

Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov called for a cooling of "hotheads" on the North Korean nuclear issue Friday and urged those involved to instead seek a peaceful solution, possibly through the mediation of "neutral European countries" or the United Nations secretary-general. As I said, it was a remarkable statement.

"If the agreement on the Iranian nuclear problem fails, North Korea will say: why should we negotiate with you, if you're unable to do so?"

The U.S. and Russian militaries maintain contact to prevent accidents or confrontations between their forces fighting in Syria, but Lavrov said "in order to eliminate terrorists we need not only de-confliction, we need coordination". He said it was an "embarrassment to the U.S".

"In about a year of this chaos about the so-called interference of Russian Federation into the elections, we never heard not a single fact", Lavrov told reporters in NY.

But the US military has "a ban on cooperating with Russia", Lavrov said.

At the start of their meeting, Mr Trump was keen to stress that achieving Middle East peace was a priority for his administration. It appears that the path to influencing Israel's foreign policy goes through the US Jewish community's leadership forum.

He added, "We believe that all relevant nations can go back to the principles and spirit of the joint statement and look for a solution to the nuclear issue on the peninsula".

Trump threatened to "totally destroy" Kim's country this week.

Lavrov said Russian Federation would welcome any efforts at mediation, saying "the mediators could be one of the neutral European countries".

A group of citizens in a northeastern Chinese city bordering North Korea have taken to the streets protesting the North's latest nuclear test as concerns over radioactive contamination are mounting there, a USA broadcaster reported Wednesday.

Iran has said it would not be the first to violate the landmark nuclear deal, but that it would respond "decisively and resolutely" to a violation of the pact "by any party".
