IOC ready to provide North Korean athletes with gear for Winter Games

North Korea, which conducted a sixth nuclear test on September 3 to global condemnation, said on Friday it might test a hydrogen bomb over the Pacific Ocean after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to destroy the reclusive country.

Shaw tells The Associated Press he finds it sad to know there are anti-doping rules in place that aren't being adequately enforced.

There are conflicts between nations - that's not an issue for the U.S. Olympic Committee to get involved in - that is an issue for the IOC and foreign nations to make decisions on.

"Each set of Games has unique challenges, and we had different challenges in London than we had in Sochi and in Rio", Blackmun says on the latest edition of ATRadio from the Team USA Media Summit in Park City, Utah.

"There are myriad issues, majority are commercial", Wasserman said, adding that those challenges would also apply to the US city hosting the Winter Games and the United States Olympic Committee (USOC). The IOC has expressed its support for the South Korean initiative of bringing North Korean athletes on board, and it may hand out wild card spots to select North Korean athletes if no one qualifies.

The multi-billion dollar Pyeongchang Olympics will be held just 50 miles from the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea, the world's most heavily armed border.

Joining Cha and Park are Cha Du-ri, Cha Bum-kun's son and current national men's team assistant coach; Lee Bong-ju, the 1996 Olympic marathon silver medalist; Sean, a recording artist and an honorary ambassador for PyeongChang 2018; Jeong Jin-woon, a member of boy band 2AM; and Cho Sei-hon, a photographer and a PyeongChang 2018 honorary ambassador.

The U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC) said it was "very much looking forward" to the Games.

United States Olympic Committee chief executive officer Scott Blackmun tells Around the Rings he believes the PyeongChang 2018 Olympics will be "most safe and secure ever". "This is why even in the past few days at the United Nations we continue to be in touch with the heads of state concerned".

"Due to his lacking of basic common knowledge and proper sentiment, he tried to insult the supreme dignity of my country by referring it to a rocket, by doing so however, he committed an irreversible mistake of making our rocket's visit to the entire US mainland inevitable all the more", Ho said at the United Nations General Assembly in NY. But none of those (conditions) exists at the moment.
