Suu Kyi deplores 'misinformation' on Rohingya issue

In June, Suu Kyi travelled to Ottawa and met with Trudeau.

The day after the BHRN media presentation, India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi, making his first official visit to neighboring Myanmar, pledged Indian support to fight cross-border Islamic terrorism.

"Ironically, the people who have opted to ignore the calls of our leaders and instead speculate about infiltration of the Rohingya cause, seem to be quite happy to promote confusion by incorrectly claiming that the situation faced by the Rohingya remains unproven and to place their faith in Aung San Suu Kyi and countless other figures who, in other circumstances, these doubters correctly associate with the New World Order agenda", he said.

Archbishop Desmond Tutu has issued an impassioned plea to his "dearly beloved sister" State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, urging her to intervene to end the violence in Rakhine State.

The monks are a powerful political force in Myanmar, given their influence on the population, and Ms Suu Kyi clearly feels she needs them on her side.

Conservative MP Garnett Genuis called the federal government's response to the persecution "slow and inadequate" despite it being repeatedly raised in the House.

With mechanisms such as punitive economic sanctions having been discarded, a UN Peacekeeping mission not even on the table, and any resolution in the UN Security Council likely to be blocked by China or Russian Federation, the worldwide community's response to the escalating Rohingya crisis is in disarray. When asked about the reports and evidences pointing to the violence and brutality, Suu Kyi has denied or discarded these reports. The Tatmadaw doesn't want Myanmar to break up.

A role model, Williams led four American women into the quarter-finals and hopes all four will reach the semi-finals. The elder of the Williams sisters will start as the favourite to progress to her first final in NY since then.

Earlier, several thousand supporters of Bangladesh's main opposition political party formed a human chain to protest against the treatment of Myanmar's Rohingya minority.

But Daw Aung San Suu Kyi can not afford to publicly criticize the military, which still has both seen and unseen power as the most established institution, with the experiences of coups in 1962 and 1988 and 50 years in power.

Gatineau-based government relations and communications consultant Fareed Khan launched the petition on Monday.

However, the Norwegian Nobel committee has ruled out rescinding Suu Kyi's prize, saying only her previous work would be taken into account rather than any subsequent actions.

But her global reputation is now in tatters over her failure to condemn the violence against the Rohingya.

It was reported that the latest violence in Myanmar erupted after alleged attacks by the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army on police outposts in Rakhine on Aug 25. "The government and the people of Myanmar don't accept the naming of the Rohingya and therefore the 'Rohingya crisis" in Myanmar can't be happening. Her honorary Canadian citizenship must be revoked. Freeland's office did not respond before press time.

Republican and Democratic lawmakers, traditionally in the vanguard of Myanmar policy, have denounced the military's conduct and strongly urged intervention by Suu Kyi, a Nobel Peace laureate who has courted unprecedented criticism for dismissing the crisis as a misinformation campaign. "She says 'these are not my people, someone's else's people, ' I would say she has completely departed from her original role which brought her the Nobel Prize". One must realise that she made a conscious decision to abandon her outright resistance to the Tatmadaw so that she could help the people of Myanmar from within the system.
