Dem Congressman Slams Trump Using Spanish Accent to Say Puerto Rico

President Donald Trump will announce new USA responses to Iran's missile tests, support for "terrorism" and cyber operations as part of his new Iran strategy, the White House said on Friday. And he used an exaggerated Spanish accent several times while saying the territory's name. Then he said it without any accent: "And we also love Puerto Rico".

"This is not a comedy show", he exclaimed. For those living in a bomb shelter, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands were smacked around by Hurricane Maria and have since been struggling to get back on its feet.

On Friday, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders declined to elaborate on what, specifically, the President meant. "We appreciate it. Thank you", he added.

The comments sparked anger among many who saw them as the latest in a series of apparently disrespectful behaviour towards the people of Puerto Rico.

He added: "A good place to start might be the Alexander-Murray negotiations that would stabilize the system and lower costs". John Cornyn (R-TX) has said of the party's failure to pass health care legislation . "It's obviously been very hard".

The President also spoke about economics and the recent devastating hurricanes, two issues he clearly believes can bring the nation together.

The president repeatedly tried to say "Puerto Rico" in what he deemed to be a Spanish accent but which actually turned out to be something entirely alien. Before the trip, Ms Cruz had begged the federal government for more aid, warning them that people on the island were dying.

Sanders did not respond to questions on Trumps cryptic "calm before the storm" remark he made last evening after his meeting with military generals.

On Thursday, however, Mr Trump assured the Hispanic Heritage Month crowd that his administration was "marshalling every federal resource at our disposal" to help in the relief effort.
