Oculus Go Set To Launch In Early 2018 For $199

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg hit on his Facebook page and claimed that the Oculus Go device is the most accessible VR experience that the company has ever created.

Oculus just had its "Oculus Connect" event, and there were a few rather big announcements out of it that people who are on the fence about VR will dig. Moreover, it doesn't need any expensive, powerful pc like its elder cousin the Oculus Rift PC to function as its a standalone VR headset, with nothing extra wires, graphics attachments are required here.

The headset is planned to be different from other VR headgear that is already available.

To achieve that goal, Zuckerberg has to figure a way for people to be able to move while using the premium, standalone VR device.

Facebook designed the Oculus Go with breathable fabrics and will allow users to modify the device's straps.

Benjamin Schachter, an analyst at Macquarie Capital, says Facebook and others need to develop better apps in order for VR to become mainstream.

The virtual headset would be competing the brands by start of the year.

Ophelia will then run into an approaching deep-layer trough that will make the hurricane accelerate toward the northeast. The storm is moving east at 3 miles per hour , the National Hurricane Center said in an update Wednesday afternoon.

Oculus has been trying to find a "sweet spot" when it comes to the price and quality of a virtual reality headset. It's not a replacement for the Gear VR, and Carmack predicted that five years from now, phone-based VR would still have more users than all-in-one headsets.

If you're familiar with Samsung Gear VR, you'd notice this one is similar. That's all the info we're getting for the Go outside of the basic stuff displayed on this splash page. It doesn't boast full motion tracking like the Oculus Touch controllers, but instead offers basic motion tracking - and we don't think this is only to keep costs down.

Premium offers for Microsoft's new VR platform now runs as much as $500 for higher-end models like the Samsung Odyssey, which is due to come out on November 6.

There are next-generation lenses for offering a wide field of view with reduced glare.

Speakers are built into the headset, for transporting the user straight into VR and making the headset easy to share with someone else.

Facebook also said that the device would include spatial audio instead of headphones.
