With Shikhar Dhawan out of the second Test against Sri Lanka for personal reasons and KL Rahul not making a mark, Murali Vijay made things harder for the selectors by cracking a confident 10th Test century on the second day in Nagpur.

It was the star batsman's fifth 200-plus score in his 62nd Test.

Kohli resumed the day along with Cheteshwar Pujara and the duo stitched 183 for the side until Pujara was sent back to the pavilion.

The right-handed opener smashed nine fours and a six during his 194-run stay so far with Pujara playing the sheet-anchor's role to perfection.

On the second day's play, Captain Virat Kohli (54 not out) along with Pujara were on the crease.

Kohli, with his stunning defensive batting have kept the Lankan bowlers at bay on Day three of the second Test against the Islanders.

Sri Lanka could only test Vijay and Pujara for an hour and half with well placed line and length of deliveries and also found good spin combination from Rangana Herath who beat the outside of the edge on multiple occasions.

Vijay, the first Test player after eight months, has created a dilemma of selection in front of the team management as the management will have to decide which player should start the inning in the series scheduled against South Africa in Delhi.

The incident happened in the 50th over of the Indian innings and Shanaka admitted to the offence after the end of a gruelling day for Sri Lanka on the field. India will be eyeing to go past Sri Lanka's 205 and take the lead.
