Augmented reality in a pair of glasses would be extremely hard.

Apple sees the AR headset as a successor to the iPhone, the report said.

Just like the Apple Watch, the augmented reality headset will have its own microprocessor and its own version of an operating system called rOS, which we presume will be based off of iOS just like watchOS and tvOS. However, Apple declined to issue a comment on its plans. Earlier this year, Apple hired an accomplished VR and AR researcher named Doug Bowman from Virginia Tech, too.

Apple publicly demoed a number of unusual and exciting augmented reality apps created with its new ARKit developer framework over the last few months. This will even include multi-user support. This is part of a larger AR initiative which was kicked off by the development and the release of Apple's ARKit. In June 2016, the company won a patent for a device with a wraparound, translucent display.

Green and Jalen Ramsey ended early Sunday when Cincinnati star receiver and Jacksonville's No. 1 corner were ejected for fighting. Even after Jaguars linebacker Myles Jack flew into the scrum and bowled the two over, Green was still trying to throw haymakers.

It certainly sounds like development on an AR headset is starting to come together over at Apple HQ, but we still have some time to wait before it's ready for a reveal. As we've seen from other AR developers, minimizing technology to work in an AR headset is still a hard proposition.

It is well known that Cook and Apple feel that AR has much more potential than virtual reality (VR), given how the technology allows for interaction with the physical world rather than immersing people in virtual ones.

"Put simply, we believe AR is going to change the way we use technology forever", said Cook, during Apple's latest earnings call.

According to Bloomberg, the iPhone maker is now experimenting with ways in which the headset can be operated, like using Siri, head gestures or a touch panel. For once, Microsoft seems to have the lead in the race to market for AR/VR, and should have second versions of both HoloLens and Mixed Reality devices in the marketplace before Apple makes an appearance. They are also developing a range of apps, from messaging to mapping to 360-degree video playback. Multiple challenges remain unsolved, including designing a wireless device that can display AR visuals for long enough without depleting the battery. Instead, he wants Apple "to be the best". "The technology had matured to a point where they felt they could demonstrate something interesting and useful and present it in a way that is easy for users to do", Nguyen said.
