China isn't locking out PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds yet

It's a coup for the monolithic games company, but this isn't a case of Tencent getting their name on a splash screen and raking in all that lovely money. Because of that, Tencent said it will work closely with PUBG Corporation and the Chinese authorities to change the game in necessary ways to keep it legal in the country.

Previously, China was eyeballing a ban for the popular Battle Royale game due to its refusal to adhere to the country's strict social values.

It could also antagonize the Trump administration and result in cancellation of USA aide to the Palestinians. The US has announced on Friday that it would not renew the PLO Washington office permit.

Thankfully, PUBG Corp. and Tencent have finally come to an agreement that will see Tencent publish and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds in China, as announced in a press release. In response, Tencent, the Chinese tech empire now worth more than half a trillion dollars, has capitulated, claiming they will "make adjustment to content ... and make sure they accord with socialist core values, Chinese traditional culture and moral rules". Just this year Tencent, known for publishing popular mobile games like Honour of Kings, saw its market value rise to $520 billion Dollars, making it the first Chinese company to crack $500 billion. It will open the door to bring Playerunknown's Battlegroundsofficially into the Chinese games market, but not before changes are made to the game. "Tencent will localize and operate the game by catering to the preferences of Chinese gamers". In a statement by PUBG Corp CEO C.H. Kim, the Chinese company will apparently tweak the title to be more palatable to the local players. "We will also offer a different, fun experience on PC".
