Lyft is growing beyond its home market of the US, with a launch planned next month in Toronto, the largest city in Canada.

"We've heard from many Torontonians that they wanted to have Lyft as an option in their city and we're excited to be a part of this community". The news follows an earlier report that Lyft was poised to grab a third of the ride-hailing market in the U.S. in the latest sign that the company was continuing to profit off Uber's stumbles earlier in the year.

The company did not say exactly when the service would be available in the city, but says it will be "around to help ring in the holidays".

In an effort to entice drivers, Lyft is offering a 25 percent bonus for the first 3,000 drivers who are approved and who complete 20 rides a week during the company's first three months of operation in Toronto. The company said it had not yet determined pricing but added, "we'll pretty quickly get to parity on.pricing with Uber". Uber, by comparison, was in more than 450 cities across the globe at the time.

Certain fidget spinners found to have high amounts of lead
PIRG has listed the two spinners on their website as unsafe and has even started a petition to get the toys removed from stores. A spokeswoman for the CPSC said she could not comment specifically on the products being sold by Target.

Uber also has been embroiled in a fight in Quebec over the province's rules for ride-hailing services.

On Monday, the ride-hailing company announced it will begin operating in Toronto, starting in December.

The move follows the controversial launch of rival Uber in Toronto a few years ago, which saw protests by taxi drivers.
