The United Nations had warned the total blockade could cause starvation in the impoverished country where war has killed at least 10,000 people in the last 2-1/2 years and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) expressed more concerns on Sunday.

The move came after Saudi Arabia intercepted a missile fired towards Riyadh, which it blamed on Tehran.

The European Commissioner for humanitarian aid called on the Saudi-led coalition to allow aid to reach the Yemeni population.

Two air strikes targeted the ministry late on Friday and plumes of smoke could be seen billowing from the building, the rebel media network Al Masirah quoted witnesses as saying.

Yemen lies beside the southern mouth of the Red Sea, one of the most important trade routes in the world for oil tankers, which pass near Yemen's shores while heading from the Middle East through the Suez Canal to Europe.

Concerned by the rise of the rebels, who are allegedly backed by Iran, Saudi Arabia and a coalition of Sunni Arab states launched a massive air campaign in 2015 aimed at reinstalling President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi's government.

NGT gives Delhi government nod to implement odd-even scheme
This decision has come as a result of rising air pollution in Delhi, and an attempt to reduce vehicular pollution in the city. The NGT also said, "It is most worrying that there is absolute non cooperation between various departments of government".

The Arabian coalition, which is fighting the rebels-Houthis in Yemen, lifted a temporary ban on flights to airports in Aden and Sauna in Yemen.

"This is really important because humanitarian access through the ports was inadequate even before the measures that were announced on 6 November", said the senior United Nations official.

Meanwhile, Abdulmalik al-Houthi, the Houthi leader, reportedly said that if "the Saudi-led coalition wants oil ships to be safe then it better not invade" Hodeidah.

Col. Aziz Rashed, a spokesman for rebel-allied forces, said Sunday that the missile intercepted by the Saudis near the capital Riyadh on November 4 was "Yemeni-produced".

Iran denies it supplies arms to the Houthis but has said the missile was a reaction to Saudi "aggression".

The conflict has created a humanitarian catastrophe in the country. But ports in Houthi-held areas have remained shut.
