The raids by the I-T department could have a significant impact on Tamil Nadu politics, with the ruling AIADMK faction engaged in a bitter battle with rebel Dhinakaran and his supporters. Chennai: Income tax (I-T) officials conducted sweeping raids on properties belonging to family members of jailed and sidelined All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leader V. K. Sasikala across Tamil Nadu and three other states on Thursday.

Officers have reportedly been checking the office of a Tamil daily Namadhu MGR and Jaya TV network.

Clarifying that raid was not conducted at his Chennai house, he said searches were on at his farmhouse in Puducherry and other places.

Jaya TV, which is considered as the mouthpiece of AIADMK, was founded by former chief minister Jayalalithaa.

Notably, all these are being run by TTV Dhinakaran's faction. Their lawyer Kasinathbharathi has further told the media that they will not bow down to scare tactics and will face the issue in court.
