Rutgers turned in solid numbers in the latest Graduation Success Rate report released by the NCAA

The 2016-17 academic year had the highest Graduation Success Rate, or GSR, for Texas Tech Athletics in school history.

The NCAA developed the Division I Graduation Success Rate in response to college and university presidents who wanted graduation data that more accurately reflect the mobility among all college students today, as the Graduation Success Rate accounts for the academic outcomes of student-athletes who transfer from one institution to another.

The record mark shows a two-point rise from last year's score of 79 percent in the Graduation Success Rate (GSR) and the 81 percent tops the previous high-water mark of 80 percent, which the Wolf Pack had twice hit previously.

By counting incoming transfer students and mid-year enrollees, the GSR increases the total number of student-athletes tracked for graduation by approximately 37 percent. Twelve of Clemson's 14 sports eclipsed the national average for NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision schools.

The Maryland women's basketball team graduated all of its players who entered the school between fall of 2007 and spring of 2011, according to figures released Wednesday by the NCAA.

"Our student-athletes continually strive to set the standard on the playing fields, in the classroom and in Bancroft Hall", Navy athletic director Chet Gladchuk said in a statement.

A year ago, five Tech teams finished with a GSR of 100.

Eleven teams (baseball, men's basketball, football, golf, men's skiing, men's tennis, women's basketball, cross country/track, gymnastics, women's tennis and volleyball) exceeded the overall Division I GSR for their sport. Overall, Nevada has seen more than 800 of its student-athletes graduate in the past dozen years. "The fact that they are leaving as graduates from this world class university is the strongest testament to the hard work of our student-athletes, administrators and coaches who make academics the utmost priority".

The latest GSR cohort includes student-athletes that enrolled at Georgia Tech from 2007-10. Under the calculation, institutions are not penalized for outgoing students who leave in good academic standing.

The Marsha Sharp Center for Student Athletes has spaces for private study, computer labs, supplemental-instruction classrooms and a private conferencing area for tutoring and mentoring appointments for the student athletes at Tech, according to the release.
