Google blocks YouTube access from Amazon media devices

The search giant added that Amazon has stopped selling some products from Nest, a device maker that, like Google, is a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc.

Amazon reportedly said that, "Echo Show and Fire TV now display a standard web view of YouTube.com and point customers directly to YouTube's existing website".

Amazon has also made a decision to stop selling the Nest E Thermostat, Nest's Camera IQ, and the Nest Secure alarm system through its sites. Amazon also doesn't allow its Prime video streaming service on Chromecast, an omission that Google wants to change. As well as the immediate blocking of YouTube on the Amazon Echo Show, a YouTube statement forewarned that the Amazon Fire TV won't be able to connect to YouTube from the beginning of 2018.

In a retaliatory move sure to upset viewers, Google is halting YouTube Streaming to Echo Show and Fire TV devices. The latest feud in Silicon Valley became more obvious and public on December 5 when Google said that it would block its popular video-streaming app YouTube from two Amazon streaming devices, criticising Amazon for not selling Google's products on its platform.

Google has chose to block YouTube on multiple Amazon media devices, part of an escalating feud between the two tech companies.

Judge Roy Moore in statistical tie with Doug Jones
Moore's 47 percent - a margin of a scant three points that sets up a nail-biter for the oddly timed December 12 special election. The Washington Post published a bombshell report last month on the allegations based on interviews with more than 30 people.

Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook first announced Prime Video support for Apple TV at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference in June, but the app's release had been delayed for unknown reasons. Here's hoping that both parties can come to some form of agreement soon.

Will these two ever reach an agreement?

"We don't think Google will go out of its way to patch things up with Amazon as having YouTube absent from Amazon devices could disincentivise users from going with Echo products giving Google Home a badly needed boost", he said.

While YouTube is no stranger to removing its services - in 2o12 it removed itself as one of the iPhone's pre-installed apps, claiming it wanted to "take back control of its app" - in this case it's a reaction to Amazon exercising its dominance of the online retail sector.
