Minnesota Public Radio has cut ties with Garrison Keillor, the well-known former host of radio show A Prairie Home Companion, because of alleged unspecified misconduct.

In a statement to the Associated Press, Keillor confirmed that he had been fired over what he cryptically described as "a story that I think is more interesting and more complicated than the version MPR heard".

Garrison Keillor, creator of the hugely popular American radio show A Prairie Home Companion, was sacked on Wednesday over an accusation of "inappropriate behaviour".

Keiller, 75, retired as host of Prairie Home Companion in 2016, but still produces the syndicated radio show The Writer's Almanac.

MPR said it received only one complaint about Keillor - apparently the one mentioned in the host's statement - dating back to his time with A Prairie Home Companion, and was not aware of further incidents, AP reports. "In addition, MPR retained an outside law firm to conduct an independent investigation of the allegations".

"I meant to pat her back ... and her shirt was open and my hand went up it about 6 inches", he said.

"On the flight home, in a spirit of low comedy, Al ogled (model and broadcaster Leeann Tweeden), pretended to grab her and a picture was taken", Keillor wrote.

Keillor even managed a joke of sorts: "Getting fired is a real distinction in broadcasting and I've waited fifty years for the honor".

Lauer had hosted the show for 20 years and is thought to have reached a salary of $25 million a year. This is pure absurdity, and the atrocity it leads to is a code of public deadliness. "A person could not hope for more than what I was given". Upon entering Jestine's Kitchen, Keillor fixates on the first waitress who acknowledges him: I walked into Jestine's Kitchen in Charleston, and a waitress said, 'Is there just one of you, sweetheart?' and her voice was like jasmine and teaberry. He writes that he thought they were friends until he got a call from her lawyer. The network said the decision came after learning of allegations of inappropriate behavior with someone who worked with Keillor.

News of the allegations comes the day after Keillor wrote a column that rebuked the idea that Democratic Sen.

In the light of the recent allegations against Mr Keillor, we will be offering any ticket holders who would prefer not to attend the show a full refund, or to exchange tickets for another event.
"And I can not in conscience bring danger to a great organization I've worked hard for since 1969", Keillor told the news organization.
