Mother's boyfriend is arrested in connection to disappearance of 3-year-old Mariah Woods and police believe she is dead

Investigators in North Carolina have made arrest in the disappearance of 3-year-old Mariah Woods and investigators believe she is dead. Authorities are searching for her body.

Authorities arrested a North Carolina man in connection to the disappearance of his girlfriend's 3-year-old daughter. Earlier Wednesday, the Federal Bureau of Investigation released surveillance photos of a woman and a little girl who matched Mariah's description, in hopes of identifying the pair.

Onslow County Sheriff Hans Miller said at a news conference that deputies are just as determined to bring the girl home as they were when it was still possible she was alive.

In a statement issued just before 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, the sheriff's office said that information gathered in the search for Mariah led authorities to believe she is dead, although no body has been recovered.

Kimrey, who was in the Onslow County Detention Center on a $1 million bond, faces charges of concealing a death, obstruction of justice, second-degree burglary, larceny and possession of stolen property. He told investigators the girl woke up and he told her to go back to sleep. She was last seen when her mother put her to bed around 11 p.m. Sunday, according to the Charlotte Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

In the warrants, officials claim Kimrey "secretly disposed of the dead child's body". Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are no longer looking to find a missing little girl; they're trying to recover her body.

Kimrey was taken into custody at the Onslow County Sheriff's Office on Friday.
