PSU beats Hawkeyes 77-73 for 1st win at Iowa since '01

Penn State have played just twice in their history, with the Lions winning both games. The teams last met in the 1983 Aloha Bowl, which Penn State won 13-10. It will be the Nittany Lions' 7th appearance in the Fiesta Bowl, but it's the first since they beat Texas 20 years ago. The Huskies finished 11th in the final College Football Playoff poll, which put them in the New Years Six bowl.

This time around, neither team was in the mix for a Playoff spot, as both the Lions and Huskies enter the postseason at 10-2, having missed out on their respective conference championship games. This ranking earned them an invitation to play in the Fiesta Bowl on December 30, in Glendale, Arizona, where they will take on the #11 ranked Washington Huskies. Curtis Enis was the offensive player of the game, while Brandon Noble was the defensive player of the game.

"We are looking forward to heading to Fiesta Bowl and we are very grateful to the Fiesta Bowl Committee for the opportunity", Penn State Head Coach James Franklin said.
